TWIN DISC POWER TAKE-OFF’s & CLUTCHES
Twin Disc offers power take-offs for all industrial engines.

STANDARD FRICTION PTO
Easy-to-mount unit consisting of a clutch assembly with shaft and bearings in a rigid cast iron housing. Designed for manual operation on all internal combustion engines with standard SAE flywheel housings. The IBF line is designed especially for today’s high speed, high horsepower industrial engines, and presently is offered in two and three clutch plate construction. This multiple-plate, ventilated design assures ample cooling area to withstand heat,
and with solid plates these PTOs can effectively handle the stress of higher engine speeds. The IBF units feature oil lubricated tapered roller bearings that extend lubrication intervals.

STRADDLE BEARING POWER TAKE-OFFS
The Straddle Bearing PTO was explicitly designed for high horsepower, high side load, heavy duty applications. Rugged benefit features include cast iron housings, cylindrical roller bearings, nodular iron drive ring and ball bearing throw out collar.

RUBBER BLOCK DRIVE PTO
This special purpose PTO is intended for heavy-duty applications not requiring a cut-off clutch. Twin Disc’s time-proven rubber block drive absorbs the minor misalignment usually found between the engine flywheel and the PTO connecting member.

DRY CLUTCHES
Twin Disc offers a complete line of mechanically-actuated and air-actuated clutches. These clutches are available in diameters from 6” to 42”, and capacities up to 276,000 lb.-ft. torque. Model CL dry clutches are available with mechanical engagement and model PO are available with air engagement.

FLEXIBLE COUPLINGS
Pacific Driveline Ltd is the New Zealand agent for Vulkan Couplings. Here are some of the highly fl exible couplings that we supply:

The highly flexible VULARDAN-E coupling is used to tune the torsional response of the system. It is a coupling with “slip-on” feature and therefore is mainly used in bell-housing installations.
Torque range: 0.16 - 12.5kNm
Available in both rubber and silicone.

The highly fl exible TORFLEX coupling with a progressive torsional stiffness specially designed to combat gear noise in boat reverse/ reduction gearboxes.
Torque range: 0.25 - 1.6kNm
Available in both rubber and silicone.

The highly fl exible VULASTIK-L couplings are with “slip-on” features and therefore they are provided mainly for installation in flanged bell type connections. The installation dimensions correspond to DIN 6281 and SAE standards.
Torque range: 0.4 - 25.0kNm
Available in both rubber and silicone.

In addition to the cardan shaft series coupling programme VULKAN has developed a bell-housing with an integral bearing.
This design will be fitted in installations where the cardan shaft has a large angle of inclination. The resulting lateral and axial reaction forces from the cardan shaft are supported by the bell housing so reducing the engine crankshaft loading.
The bearing is pre-lubricated and practically maintenance free.
The permissible inclination angles depend on the expected lifetime. For the combination with a flexible coupling, there are three designs available

THORDON INDUSTRIAL BEARINGS
Pumps: Thordon pump bearings are recognized as the proven choice for value and performance for both OEM and Maintenance pumped-medium lubricated bearing and Maintenance pumped-medium lubricated bearing applications. The optimum bearing for any specific application can be selected from three bearing grades in two configurations. A separate brochure fully outlining the performance benefits and application of Thordon pump bearings is available.
Screw Conveyors: Thordon is widely used for screw conveyor bearings in waste water , sewage and sludge applications; waste recycling and composting facilities; the mining industry; grain handling and many other industries. Thordon’s high resistance to abrasive wear  high impact resistance, low coefficient of friction and excellent self-lubricating qualities make it an ideal choice for either dry or wet operation in these difficult applications. An added benefit is the significant reduction in noise when metallic bushings are replaced with elastomeric Thordon. Available in a range of sizes, Thordon inserts are stocked in both circular and “fl at-top” configurations.

Wire Rope Sheaves and Liners: Maintenance free operation and long life are two of the main benefits of specifying Thordon bearings in wire rope sheaves. In addition, Thordon can offer a complete rebuild solution by supplying wear resistant Thorflex sheave liners.

Hydro-Turbines: Reliability , long life and superior customer service have made Thordon Bearings the standard with many hydroelectric power producers for pollution-free, low friction bearing systems.

Thordon is the bearing of choice when specifying operating mechanism bearings, water lubricated turbine main shaft guide bearings and pump bearings.
A separate brochure fully outlining the performance benefits and application of Thordon hydro-turbine bearings is available.

Sewage Treatment: Sewage treatment plants offers a number of applications for Thordon bearings and wear pads due to the wet, abrasive operating conditions encountered. In addition to pump applications Thordon bearings offer many performance advantages when specified in scraper blades; plow , rake or flight wear shoes; scum collectors;band and drum screens; aerators; dewatering presses; sprockets; grit retrieval systems and many other applications. Many cast iron sludge pumps have Thorfl ex coated check balls and piston faces, greatly extending their service life.

Mining: Thordon’s high impact and abrasion resistance makes it a natural bearing solution for the mining industry. Typical applications include off-highway truck suspension and loading equipment pivot bearings; drilling carriage roller bearings; mine car rocker arm and wheel bearings and stacker/reclaimer pivot and roller bearings.  Pulp and Paper: In addition to pumps and conveyors, Thordon bearings perform extremely well in jack ladders, pulp and paper
agitators and mixers, and many other stock lubricated applications where the temperature and pH are within Thordon’s working range.

Maintenance intervals often increase by two or three times after a conversion to Thordon resulting in significant savings and increased reliability Forest Industry: In general harvesting and processing operations, Thordon bearings are typically specified in equipment pivot linkages and all types of conveyor shaft bearings where the combination of a dirty abrasive environment and impact loading results in premature failure of metallic, or less resilient non-metallic bearings. Thordon wear strips offer improved life, reduced friction and grease-free operation when specified under conveyor chains, in saw carriages and sorters, and in numerous other applications.

Automotive Manufacturing: Self-lubricating Thordon bearings offer increased wear life and reliability , elimination of grease and oil lubrication, and reduced operating noise in automotive manufacturing applications such as presses, materials handling and assembly equipment.  Injection Molding: Self-lubricating, Thordon TRAXL bearings are replacing oil lubricated bronze and non-metallic, sliding block bearings on large automotive injection molding machines. All risk of oil contamination of the production parts is eliminated, and Thordon’s elastomeric nature allows it to deal with the misalignment and subsequent edge loading that often causes premature bearing failure in these units.

Steel Industry: In addition to pumps, Thordon bearings perform extremely well when specified as pivot bearings and wear strips in the many applications throughout the steel mill Other Industries: High resistance to abrasion and impact resistance, low friction, self-lubricating properties and easy machinability make Thordon a natural choice for maintenance applications in a wide variety of other industries including bottling; food processing and canning; sugar
harvesting and processing; and waste handling,  construction and agricultural equipment.

CUSTOM BUILT PERFORMANCE PROPELLERS

MARINE APPLICATION

NO MARINE TRANSMISSION IN THE WORLD SHIFTS AS FAST AND SMOOTH AS THE TWIN DISC QUICKSHIFT™. YET IT PROVIDES SLOW SPEED CONTROL OF FIVE KNOTS OR LESS.

With its patented, completely internal and integrated clutch actuating system, QuickShift™ instantly delivers cushioned torque to the driveline when shifting from neutral to anywhere from full ahead to full reverse. It eliminates driveline shock while optimising power to the driveshaft. In addition, this all happens literally within milliseconds. So you have a steep but smooth power curve, whether you go full out or just nudge the throttle.

QuickShift™ also offers the remarkable ability to provide propeller speeds down to approximately 100 rpm – to maneuver at less than 5 knots and even accomplish zero boat speed. You have got trolling capability without the expense of purchasing a trolling valve option.

Now you can have incredibly fast smooth shifts and instant thrust for precise control even at low rpm. Imagine how much easier slow speed maneuvering and docking will be with QuickShift™.

If you want to make your boat easier to handle, safer and more comfortable to operate, enquire about the Twin Disc QuickShift™. There is no marine transmission that shifts faster, smoother or lets your boat go slower

ARNESON SURFACE DRIVES
Arneson Drives are among the most effi cient marine propulsion systems in the world. Their surface-piercing propeller design reduces underwater drag by 50% compared to conventional submerged propeller drive systems. The only surfaces to contact the water are the propeller blades and a protective skeg. This results in higher overall speed, quicker acceleration and a better payload to power ratio.

Fifty percent less drag significantly improves fuel economy while lowering operating costs. And, as speed increases, so does performance and operating benefits. Thousands of these drives have been operating successfully for many years on pleasure craft, commercial and military applications throughout the world. So today you have proven performance and reliability in Arneson Surface Drives available for vessels from 30 to 200 feet.
