Vulkan Flexible Couplings

Pacific Driveline Ltd is the New Zealand agent for Vulkan Couplings. It carries the following highly flexible couplings for pleasure boats, high-speed boats and work boats.

The highly flexible VULARDAN-E coupling is used to tune the torsional response of the system. It is a coupling with "slip-on" feature and therefore is mainly used in bell-housing installations.
Torque range:  0.16 - 12.5kNm
Available in both rubber and silicone.

The highly flexible TORFLEX coupling with a progressive torsional stiffness specially designed to combat gearnoise in boat reverse/reduction gearboxes.
Torque range:  0.25 - 1.6kNm
Available in both rubber and silicone.

The highly flexible VULASTIK-L couplings are with "slip-on" features and therefore they are provided mainly for installation in flanged belltype connections. The installation dimensions correspond to DIN 6281 and SAE standards.
Torque range:  0.4 - 25.0kNm
Available in both rubber and silicone.

In addition to the cardan shaft series coupling programme VULKAN has developed a bell-housing with and integral bearing. This design will be fitted in installations where the cardan shaft has a large angle of inclination. The resulting lateral and axial reaction forces from the cardan shaft are supported by the bell-housing so reducing the engine crankshaft loading.

The bearing is pre-lubricated and practically maintenance free. The permissible inclination angles depend on the expected life time. For the combination with a flexible coupling there are three designs available.

VULKARDAN-L coupling with linear torsional stiffness.
Torque range: 0.16-12.5kNm

VULKARDAN-P coupling with progressive torsional stiffness.
Torque range: 0.32 - 31.5kNm

Integral Shaft Support with VULASTIK-L
This design will be fitted in installation where the cardan shaft has a large angle of inclination.
Torque range: 0.63 - 16kNm
